Our Story

Inti Ayllu comes from Quechua, an indigenous language spoken in Perú. It means Community of the Sun, which is exactly what we strive to be – a community of artists and dreamers that wish to reflect God’s love in the world.

We are committed to using art, in all forms, to create safe spaces with young people living in contexts of violence and poverty. Havens of art and creativity, these spaces are centers for self-expression where participants can discover their talents, celebrate their unique stories, and strengthen their sense of self-worth in order to build united, resilient communities.

Founded by husband and wife, José Pecar and Sarah Baker, Inti Ayllu started out as a Peruvian food stall in Bogotá, Colombia. After employing a young man struggling with homelessness as a sous chef, José and Sarah became passionate about supporting youth through meaningful employment. They decided to use their business as a platform to build community and foster mutual relationships with young adults living on the margins.

Vision

We envision a world without violence where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

Mission

We use art, in all forms, to cultivate welcoming spaces with young adults living in contexts of violence and poverty.
